Chromaticism: Chromatic Ornaments

Below you find some examples of chromatic ornaments. The examples are written in the key of C major and the target note is always C.

Try to use some of these ornaments in an improvisation by starting or ending phrases with an ornament around the root, third or fifth.

To practice the ornaments in isolation, you can pick a triad, seventh chord or thirteenth chord of any quality and approach each note with an ornament. Practice in all keys.
