Seventh Chords: Improvisation

Practice soloing on a chord progression using only the underlying seventh chords.

When you have mastered improvising only with the seventh chord on the root (1-3-5-7), choose any of the other diatonic seventh chord to practice.

• 3-5-7-9
• 5-7-9-11
• 7-9-11-13
• 9-11-13-1
• 11-13-1-3
• 13-1-3-5

When you are comfortable soloing with the diatonic seventh chords separately, begin mixing them up and connecting them with different ideas.
