Tetrachords: Combination Exercise

Pick one tetrachord and combine it with every tetrachord in the same group.

Combination Exercise

After you practiced the exercise with a couple of base tetrachords, pick some combinations that you find interesting and try to build a song around them. In every chord change, try to find a chord for a scale that either has the same lower or the same upper tetrachord as the previous chord/scale.

Likewise, you can try to find chord changes in songs you are practicing where one of the tetrachords stays the same and the other one changes. When soloing, you can then either emphasize the commonalities or the differences.
